Gothic Theater: 02/07/2009

Back to the hard beats...having been busy with drumming gigs for the previous 5 or so years, this is the first mix I had put together in some time. I've also been working on this website for a long time and now that I've got it together I'm happy to post my first mix, even though I recorded well over a year ago. I wanted to come back with a bang and this hard-edged, dirty banging selection of music seemed to do the trick. Moving from electro, hard breaks and progressive using some new software and mixing tools, this mix just flew together pretty effortlessly. I really enjoy the way the middle of this mix flows, I was able to pull off some nice long mixes by making edits to a few of the tunes before-hand to get some nice transitions and tighten up the flow. It flows into some breaks at the end to let you down nice and easy.
This style of music isn't for everyone, but it's the type of stuff I like to rock out to and I rarely get to play this hard in front of a crowd. Having said that, I was stoked to get to drop this set at a small gathering at the Gothic Theater in Denver, one of my all time favorite venues. Great sound system and staff, I've seen so many great artists there and been lucky enough to play on the stage there more times than I can remember - it was a blast. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed mixing it, turn it up and scare your neighbors.
